The Cursed Doll That Whispers at Midnight

The story starts…
The year was 1997, in a small village named Navalpur in Rajasthan. There was always a strange chill in the air here. There was an old mansion-like house outside this village, which people called “Rana Haveli”. It has been deserted for years, but it is said that there is still someone inside that mansion… someone who is alive even after dying.
The main character of the story is Sandhya, a 21-year-old college student, who had come to her maternal grandmother’s house in Navalpur during the summer holidays. She was very attracted to these dark nights of the village and the deserted mansion. But her grandmother always said, “Sandhya beta, don’t go near Rana Haveli… the shadows of death reside there.”

The Mystery of the Doll
One day Sandhya went to that mansion with her friends, as a challenge. Inside the mansion, there was dirt, dust and cobwebs, but one thing caught everyone’s attention – an old, dirty and broken doll.
The doll’s eyes were red, as if they were bloodshot. And its mouth looked as if it was about to say something.
Sandhya picked up the doll as a joke and brought it home. But that very night, at exactly 12 midnight, when the whole house was sleeping… soft whispering sounds started coming from Sandhya’s room.
“Sandhya… should we play…? Sandhya… should we play…?”
When Sandhya opened her eyes, the doll was sitting at her bedside, its red eyes were shining. Sandhya screamed in fear, but when the family members came, they did not see anything – the doll was at its place.

Beginning of the haunting events
After this, the same sounds started coming every night. Gradually, strange incidents started happening during the day as well –
Utensils started falling on their own.
Blood stains started appearing on the walls.
And sometimes Sandhya would see someone else’s shadow behind her in the mirror.
Nani called the village’s tantrik baba “Ghanshyam Baba”. Baba trembled on seeing the doll and said,
“This is not an ordinary doll… it has the soul of the younger daughter of Rana Haveli, who was brutally killed in her childhood. Her soul now resides in this doll and is taking revenge for her death.”

The terrible truth
Baba reveals that 30 years ago Rana sahab’s daughter “Aarti” was killed in the mansion itself, during a black magic ritual. Her spirit is now targeting every girl who touches her doll to find peace.
Sandhya is now getting weaker day by day. Her eyes have turned black, and she herself has started mumbling the same words at night,
“Khelein kya…? Khelein kya…?”

The final battle
Ghanshyam Baba suggested taking the doll to the cremation ground with the help of tantra-mantra, where her soul could be freed.
At midnight, Sandhya, Nani and Baba reached the cremation ground with the doll. As the tantric ritual began, horrifying screams echoed in the air. Trees started shaking and darkness engulfed everything.
The doll shed tears of blood from her eyes and started moving towards Sandhya. Baba recited the mantra for the last time and threw the doll in the fire. The doll kept writhing in the flames and at the same time a black shadow emerged from the mansion and started burning.
The next morning Sandhya was completely fine. The sparkle in her eyes had returned. The village was once again peaceful.
But… the story does not end here…

Final Twist
At the end of the story, when everything was back to normal, Sandhya came to her room. She opened the cupboard, and there was a new shiny doll – exactly like the one she had found in the mansion.
And suddenly, the same voice echoed in the room again…
“Sandhya… shall we play…?”
🩸 End
(But is it really over? Or will this curse never end…)
