The horrifying truth of the village

This is a very old story. There was a very small village named Dumri in the middle of the mountains. The head of this village was Ramlal. All the villagers respected Ramlal a lot and completely followed his ideas and suggestions. Ramlal had only one child, Chameli. Even at the age of 18, Chameli’s mischievousness had not gone away. She was very naughty, there was no mischievousness visible on her face, but yes, her face definitely exuded innocence. At that time, every parent had only one wish that their daughter should get a good home and groom and she should be happy in her in-laws’ house. Ramlal was also searching for a groom for Chameli in the nearby villages.

Once his head friend from a nearby village said that he has a boy in mind, if you are ready, can I talk to him? As soon as Ramlal said yes, Chameli’s marriage was fixed under the leadership of his head friend. Chameli’s husband Suresh was doing some work in Kolkata at that time. Suresh was a very simple and handsome young man. Ramlal liked him completely. Anyway, the marriage took place and Ramlal bid farewell to Chameli with moist eyes. In a few days, Chameli had become everyone’s favourite in her in-laws’ house too. After spending 3 months with Chameli, Suresh left for the city with a heavy heart. Chameli explained to Suresh that earning is also important and it is a matter of only 4 months, till then I will wait for you.

On reaching the city, Suresh started his work again but he was not interested in work. Again and again Chameli’s naughty face would come in front of his eyes. The more he tried to concentrate on his work, the more he would get lost in Chameli’s memories. Suresh’s restlessness was increasing day by day. He told his heart’s desire to his three friends who worked with him. All three were his good friends. Suresh used to talk about Chameli’s beauty and her mischief day and night with these three friends. All three friends had created an image of Chameli’s beauty in their minds by hearing about her and now they would repeatedly ask Suresh that when are you introducing me to Bhabhi. Suresh would say that I myself am restless to meet her but I am not able to understand how to meet her ?

Well, Suresh was completely unaware of the horrible, disgusting conspiracy that had begun brewing in the minds of his three friends. One day his three friends told Suresh that friend, bring Bhabhi here. She will stay for a few days, she will also explore the city, she will feel very good and then drop her back in 1-2 weeks. But Suresh remembering his old parents said that no friends, I cannot do this, there is no one else in the village except Chameli to take care of my mother and father.

A few more days passed but as they passed, Suresh’s restlessness was increasing. Now Suresh was not at all interested in work and he was only looking at the village. One night, Suresh’s three friends told Suresh that let’s go to his village. Before Suresh could understand or say anything, one of his three friends said, “Friend, don’t worry. Tell them that there is a recession in work right now, that’s why you have come to the village. And with this excuse, we friends will also see your village and meet your parents along with Bhabhi because we don’t even have a village. We were born in this city and made this city our home. We also want to enjoy the fresh air of the village for a few days.” Suresh was already restless to go home, he liked what his friends said. Then, the very next day, Suresh left for his village with his three friends.

There were many dense forests around the village. If someone other than these mountain dwellers went to this mountainous region, he would surely lose his way and become a prey of wild animals. After travelling by train and bus, Suresh finally reached a small bus station near his village with his three friends. There was not even a good dirt road to go to his village from this station. One had to go through a rough path through the forest. While walking in the forest, when his friend asked, brother Suresh, how far is your village now, Suresh happily said, friend, we are about to reach there now. On hearing Suresh’s words, his friend pretended to be panting and sitting there said, friend, I cannot walk anymore. On hearing him, Suresh said, friend, we have reached and now it will hardly take even 5-7 minutes. But ignoring Suresh’s words, his other friends also sat down. Now what could poor Suresh do, he also had to stop. As soon as Suresh stopped, his friend took out a nice new saree and bangles from the bag in his hand and said, “Suresh, we are going to meet Bhabhi for the first time, so we have brought some gifts for her.” On hearing this, Suresh said, “Friends, what was the need for this?” But his friends laughed and said, “There was a need, brother, we also have a Bhabhi, we are meeting her for the first time, so how can we stay without giving something.”

After this, his friend with a cunning smile on his face said to Suresh, why not give a surprise to Bhabhi. Do one thing, you go home and bring Bhabhi here on the pretext of taking her out without telling anyone, we will give all these gifts to Bhabhi here and after that we will go to your house with both of you. Bhola Suresh agreed and went towards home with fast steps and after about 20 minutes came back to his friends with Chameli. Then what happened, all three friends met Chameli like their own Bhabhi. Chameli also liked it very much. After this, when Chameli asked them to go home, suddenly their attitude changed a bit. One friend stood up very strictly near Suresh and caught hold of him and before Suresh could understand anything, his friend said to Suresh in a loud voice clenching his teeth that, I wanted to get my sister married to you but you came to the village and got married without telling anyone. Hearing this, Suresh innocently said that brother, you never even talked to us about your sister’s marriage and when I came home, my parents got me married. How could I refuse them? But these innocent words of Suresh had no effect on those three demons. One of their friends caught hold of Suresh tightly and the friends started disrobing Chameli.

Before Suresh or Chameli could shout, clothes were stuffed in their mouths. Then they picked up Chameli and Suresh and took them to a denser forest. They killed Suresh in the dense forest and played with Chameli’s dignity. She kept screaming and begging but it had no effect on those wolves. They killed Chameli too and covered her with dry leaves in the forest and set her on fire. After setting the fire, these three friends ran away from where they had come. The forest started burning and so did the bodies of Chameli and Suresh. Everything was destroyed. The villagers in the nearby area had nothing to do with this fire because a forest fire was not a big deal. Anyone would set the forest on fire in his own stupidity. Time started passing slowly. When Chameli and Suresh did not return home till night, Suresh’s father informed his neighbours about Suresh’s arrival and taking Chameli with him. That very night, Suresh and some of his neighbours went out with torches to look for Chameli and Suresh. Even after a lot of searching, they could not be found. The next day, the police was informed, but what could the police do? They did some investigation but could not find them.

Now Suresh’s parents and the villagers started thinking that Suresh had taken his wife to Kolkata without informing them. Perhaps he was afraid that if he informed his family members, they would not let him take her. After all, Suresh’s parents and the villagers knew very little about where Suresh lived in Kolkata and what he did. Slowly, 6-7 months passed. Now Suresh’s parents had learned to live without Suresh and Chameli.

Here in Kolkata, one day, a commotion suddenly broke out in a friend’s house. What had happened was that someone had bitten his body very brutally, there were terrible teeth marks on his body at many places and he had departed from this world. During police interrogation, his family members told that he was having an affair with a girl for the past 1 month. Both of them used to meet each other regularly but no one had seen who the girl was and how she was. But during this time, the police came to know a strange and scary thing from his sister. His sister told that one day when her brother left the house, she also started following him. He left the colony and sat on a culvert on a deserted road.

I was standing behind an electric pole at a distance of about 15 meters from there and was keeping an eye on him. I felt very strange because it seemed that brother was talking to someone, consoling someone, but there was no one there except brother. Then I thought that maybe brother has gone mad. Just when I was thinking all this, a terrible, black shadow came and stood near me. That shadow was very scary, but it was a shadow, but I could not understand whose shadow it was. I was completely scared. Then suddenly that shadow started laughing and shouted, “Now your brother will not survive. He had scratched me, right? I will also tear him apart and eat him. And yes, remember one thing, if you tell this to anyone, I will destroy your entire house.” As soon as she said this, his sister started crying. On hearing this, the police and the people gathered around were shocked and completely scared. Because his condition was telling that whatever happened to him was not done by any human being but by some ghost or spirit.

But what his sister said was not enough. When the police intensified their search operation, they found the burnt bodies of Suresh and Chameli at some distance from the village. This news spread like fire in the village and the police immediately started taking action in this direction. The villagers were also worried about this and they together decided to perform a puja for the peace of the souls of Suresh and Chameli.

When the police started investigating deeply, mysterious deaths of Suresh’s other friends started coming to light one by one. Everyone had died in a strange and horrific way. Some were found burnt, some were drowned in water and there were wounds on the body, as if some animal had scratched them. These deaths were enough to scare both the village and the city.

Her sister told that she had seen Suresh and Chameli in her dream one night, both of them were pleading to save her from some unknown power. She told the police that the souls of Suresh and Chameli wanted peace and they were only hoping for justice.

The villagers together performed a big yagna for the peace of the souls of Suresh and Chameli. During the yagna, strange events started happening in the village. Some heard Chameli’s voice, while some saw Suresh. These incidents frightened the people even more. At the end of the yagna, the priest announced that the souls of Suresh and Chameli are now free and the village is now safe.

After this incident, the people of the village became more cautious than before and they started giving more importance to their relationships and connections. Now everyone in the village started living together with their neighbors and friends and avoided trusting outsiders too much. This terrible incident taught them how important it is to be cautious in friendship and trust. And the villagers started living happily.
