The Red Door

The Red Door

Prologue

There was a deserted mansion outside the village – its old walls were covered with moss, the window panes were broken and spider webs were hanging from every corner.

But the scariest thing about that mansion was its red door.

People used to say that this door was cursed. If anyone opened it, he never returned to the village.

But till date no one has seen this truth with their own eyes… or maybe the one who saw it never returned.

Beginning of the story

It was a cold night. The sky was overcast and a strange hissing sound was resonating in the air.

Arjun – a brave young man who did not believe in superstitions, made a bet with his friends and headed towards this mansion.

“Are you guys really scared of that red door?” Arjun asked his friends laughing.

Ravi, his best friend, said in a trembling voice, “Arjun, don’t joke. This is not an ordinary door. It is haunted by some evil spirit. Whoever went there never returned.”

“Hey friend, those are all stories. I will prove that this is just an old mansion, nothing else.” Arjun said and moved forward holding a torch in his hand.

History of the Red Gate

History of the Red Gate

The elders of the village used to say that this mansion is about 100 years old. Once upon a time, this mansion belonged to the rich Seth Haridas, who was the richest but most ruthless man of his time.

It is said that Seth Haridas killed many people for his lust and greed. He had built a secret cellar inside that mansion, where he would lock people and kill them.

The Red Door was the entrance to that cellar. When the police wanted to catch the Seth, one night he locked himself in the same cellar and burned himself alive.

Since then, that Red Door has never opened. The villagers believed that the soul of the Seth is still imprisoned behind that door, and whoever opens it becomes the victim of that soul.

Description of the mansion

As Arjun stepped towards the mansion, his heart started beating faster.

The moonlight peeking through the iron grille of the main gate of the mansion was not showing anything clearly.

The doors started creaking due to the wind. The rustling of dry leaves could be heard all around.

Arjun pushed the door open and entered. The stench inside the mansion made him suffocate.

There were stains on the walls, broken furniture on the floor and old papers and bones were lying scattered everywhere.

Then his eyes fell on that red door.

That door was not ordinary. A layer of red color had settled on the wood, which had turned black with time. Strange figures and tantric mantras were engraved on it.

There were blood-like marks on the wall around the door.

Near the red door

insidious: the red door

As Arjun’s torchlight fell on the door, he felt some strange energy emanating from the door’s surface.

“Is this really the door…?” Arjun muttered to himself.

He dared to touch the door by extending his hand. It had a cold, ice-like surface.

Then suddenly he heard someone moaning on the other side of the door –

“Help… is there someone… help…”

Arjun’s soul trembled. But his curious mind kept fighting the fear.

“Maybe someone is trapped inside… I will help,” he said to himself.

The Door Open

As soon as Arjun pushed the door, it started opening slowly with a creaking sound.

A foul smell of a rotten corpse came out from inside.

Nothing was visible clearly in the darkness.

He turned on the mobile’s flash light and looked inside.

room escape

There were blood stains on the walls of the basement. Skeletons were hanging tied in iron chains. Burnt human remains were lying on the floor.

Just then… the door closed by itself with a loud noise.

“Who is it?” Arjun shouted.

“You have come… now you will not be able to return…” An echoing sound spread all around.

Wrath of the soul

Fog spread all around. Arjun saw – a black shadow was slowly coming towards him.

A face without eyes, flames on the head, and a strange smell coming from the mouth.

“I am Seth Haridas… you broke my sleep… now you will also meet the same fate as all of them…”

Arjun tried to run away but his feet were stuck to the ground.

The shadow came closer. A wave of pain ran through his bones.

Tears flowed from Arjun’s eyes.

“Forgive me… I made a mistake… I will go from here…”

But the shadow laughed – that laugh was so scary that the walls started shaking.

“It is too late now…”

Creepy ending

Arjun’s screams echoed off the walls of the mansion and came out. The villagers heard those screams at night but no one could muster the courage to go near.

When people arrived in the morning, the Lal Darwaza was closed again.

A foul smell and resonant laughter were coming from inside.

Arjun never returned to the village again… he had become another victim of Lal Darwaza.

It is said that even today, when the winds blow strong at night, Arjun’s screams and Seth Haridas’s laughter can be heard from Lal Darwaza…
